Ash Wednesday
The church begins the season of Lent on Ash Wednesday, 40 days before Easter. This year Ash Wednesday is on February 21. The Gospel from Matthew 6 draws us toward the Lenten spiritual disciplines of increased almsgiving (to the poor), increased prayer, and increased fasting. These are disciplines for our spiritual renewal that point us to the grace of Our Savior. Lent is a time to call to remembrance Christ's passion for our sins and to set our sights on the treasures of heaven. Join us for the Ash Wednesday Divine Service at 6 PM at Luther Memorial Chapel. The Risen and Ascended Christ comes to us in the Divine Service to speak to us through His Word and to feed us with the food of immortality through the Sacrament of the Altar.
